One more event at the Road to WSF – “Industrial Defence & Energy Summit. Europe Meets Ukraine 2017”
Another crucial event that was organized at the Road to Warsaw Security Forum 2017 was the “Industrial Defence and Energy Summit. Europe meets Ukraine 2017” (IDES17). Polish-Ukrainian economic cooperation was a key topic of the official event under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki and Stepan Kubiw. The summit which took place in Warsaw on 21 April, 2017 was organised by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Development, the Industrial Development Agency, and the Innovation Centre FIRE Foundation.
The first edition was devoted to Ukraine – a country of enormous potential, which has a lot to offer to the West and especially its partners in Central Europe. Cooperation of armament industries and their development in the Central and Eastern Europe region (CEE), as well as issues related to energy security, which evolves into the even more important aspect of the global security architecture, were disputed at the summit. Military representatives, decision-makers, high-level administration figures and experts from around the world debated on how to foster bilateral cooperation between states and non-state actors in the industrial field.
The conference was attended by the high-rank representatives of the governmental administration, from Ukraine as well as Poland, experts and representatives of industry. Conference speakers included amongst others: vice minister of economy of Ukraine Mikhail Titarchuk, secretary of state at the Ministry of Development of the Republic of Poland Jerzy Kwieciński, undersecretary of state for security, eastern and European policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Marek Ziółkowski, minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine (1998-2000, 2005-2007) Borys Tarasiuk, CEO of Polish-Ukrainian chamber of economy Jacek Piechota, vice-president of PGNiG Łukasz Kroplewski, or Assistant Manager of Development, Ukroboromprom Artur Kheruvymov.
New technologies are the key element of economic cooperation between Poland and Ukraine which was mostly discussed at the IDES17. Thus, one of the results of the IDES17 was the “Memorandum of Cooperation” which was signed between Ukrainian and Polish companies on development and production of new technologies in the aerospace industry. One of the sides of the agreement is a company Wyspa Kaszuby RT +90 Sp. Z o.o. engaged in building the third largest radio telescope (RT90+) in Bory Tucholskie.
The Summit has held under patronage of the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Energy, National Security Bureau, Industrial Development Agency. Besides, the event was supported by NATO.

25th Anniversary of Poland’s membership in NATO: Conference summary
The Casimir Pulaski Foundation, the organizer of the Warsaw Security Forum, and the Delegation of the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, in cooperation with NATO, are organizing a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The event is scheduled to take place on March 18th, 2024, in Warsaw.
