From 1992 for two years Head of the Department for Security Policy and Co-operation in Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Hungarian Representative to the Council of Senior Officials of the CSCE. From 1993 to 1996 Chairman of the Senior Council of the OSCE and a Personal Representative of the Chairman in theOffice of the OSCE to Chechnya, Nagorno-Karabakh, Moldova, Budapest, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia. In 2003 elected as a Senior Vice President of the EastWest Institute. From 2004 to 2006 Member of the Advisory board of the Prime Minister of Hungary.
Member of numerous organizations like the Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces, the Szeged Center for Security Policy Advisory Board, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, the European Security Forum, the Black See Strategy Group, the Task Force on the Future of Belarus, the European Council for Foreign Relations, the NTO Defence College Foundation.
