Jacek Czaputowicz

Jacek Czaputowicz served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland from 2018 to 2020. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was an activist for the democratic opposition and was interned and imprisoned due to his political activities. He served as a member of the Civic Committee to the Chairman of the Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarity during 1988-1990.

Czaputowicz has extensive experience in diplomacy and international relations. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 and held various positions, including Deputy Director and then Director of the Consular and Emigration Department, Deputy Head of the Civil Service, and head of the Department of Strategy and Foreign Policy Planning. He also served as the head of the National School of Public Administration and led the Ministry's Diplomatic Academy.

He has received several awards, including the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity for his contributions to Poland's independence and sovereignty and his efforts in promoting human rights.

Czaputowicz graduated from the Warsaw Central School of Planning and Statistics and obtained his Ph.D. in political science from the Polish Academy of Sciences PAN. He also completed postgraduate studies at foreign universities, including Oxford. He has authored numerous research papers and scientific monographs on European integration at the Institute of European Studies at Warsaw University.
