Jonathan Hoyle joined Lockheed Martin as Vice President, Europe in February 2014. He is responsible for leading Lockheed Martin’s strategic direction in Europe as part of the Lockheed Martin International Team. As such he leads a Europe based team with the aim of growing LMI’s profitable business in Europe by seeking out new business opportunities, managing customer relations and providing the whole LM enterprise with contextual awareness of the geo-political environment and insight of customer needs. He also leads the team to establish and maintain partnerships and develop and implement long term growth based strategies. He is based in London. On 1 April 2015, Jonathan was appointed by the Home Secretary in the UK as chair of the Technical Approvals Board.

Jonathan came to his LM role from GCHQ where from 2010 he was Director General for Government and Industry Cyber Security, responsible for industry engagement, the National Information Assurance agenda and the development and delivery of a national defence capability in the cyber context.

Before GCHQ, Jonathan had a 27-year career in the Ministry of Defence, most recently as Director General Commercial. Before that he was Chief of Staff in Defence Equipment and Support where he was a member of the Main Board, responsible for governance, performance management, policy and strategy, and international relations.

From November 2004 to January 2008 he was Minister for Defence Materiel at the British Embassy, Washington DC, responsible for all UK/US defence procurement relations and related policy issues. During his time there he led the negotiations on the Defence Co-operation Trade Treaty.

Prior to his appointment in Washington Jonathan was the Director of the Main Building redevelopment project where he led the negotiations for the PFI contract and subsequent project to transform the MoD Main Building into a modern Headquarters.

Jonathan completed his MBA at Cranfield University in 1998.

Jonathan has been married for 26 years to Amanda. They do not have any children. In his spare time, Jonathan likes to sample his wife’s cooking after hiking in the Brecon Beacons and worries about 3 putting from 12 feet (handicap 10).
