Pierre Larrouturou studied agricultural engineering and graduated from the Institut of political studies in Paris. He first worked as a consulting engineer at Andersen Consulting. He became a specialist in economic issues. He joined the Party in 1988 socialist, which he left in 1991. In 1993, he created the Action Committee for the transition to the 4 days out of 5. He returned to the PS in 2002, he left it again in 2009 to join Europe Ecology The Greens. He became regional councilor for Île-de-France. He will have tried without success to present himself in the presidential election of 1995 then of 2002 and 2007.
