Daryna Onyshko

Mentor, New Security Leaders

Daryna “Daria” Onyshko is the Program Officer at the Community of Democracies with a special focus on the cross-cutting themes of youth and gender equality.
Within the CoD, she coordinates efforts of CoD YouthLeads, a newly established group of young democracy advocates and activists from twenty-four countries who guide youth-related programs of the organization. She is also responsible for activities of the CoD Working Group on Women and Democracy that comprises member states and civil society committed to advancing gender equality in all areas.
Outside her main work engagement, Daria volunteers at the European Democracy Youth Network (EDYN) and serves as its Event Team Head. At EDYN she has recently hosted more than ten interviews with high-level guests, such as the President of North Macedonia, a Member of the South Carolina State Senate, and a Member of the European Parliament from Germany.
Daria is a fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis’s James S. Denton Transatlantic Program, alumna of the New Security Leaders Program of the Warsaw Security Forum, European Academy of Diplomacy, the Academy of the Euro-Atlantic Association, LEADx Program by the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a recipient of OSCE & UNODA Peace and Security Scholarship.
She holds an MA in Political Science with a major in Analysis and Policy Advice and a BA in International Relations. Besides English, Ukrainian and Russian, she speaks fluent Polish, basic Norwegian and learns Dutch.
She currently co-chairs the Women’s Diplomatic Club in Warsaw that brings together more than 100 women diplomats. Daria enjoys long-distance running and watching documentaries about nature.
