Tinne Van der Straeten has a Master's degree in African Languages and Cultures and a Master's degree in Law. In 2007 she was elected to the Federal Parliament and remained a member until 2010. She then went to work as a lawyer at Blixt. A law firm where she gained 9 years of experience in the energy sector. In 2018 she became alderwoman of Public Works in Koekelberg. A few months later she was re-elected to the Federal Parliament. After a long period of government formation, she became Minister of Energy in October 2019. Her expertise in energy is highly respected. People know her as a woman who tries to find common ground and build bridges between people, regardless of their beliefs or political affiliation. She works with passion and expertise on the energy transition. Tinne Van der Straeten lives in Brussels. She has been a board member for many organizations, such as the King Baudouin Foundation.
