WSF2015 speaker: Mikheil Saakashvili, former President of Georgia and Head of the Advisory International Council of Reforms of Ukraine

The WSF2015 team is proud to announce that Mikheil Saakashvili, former President of Georgia and Head of the Advisory International Council of Reforms of Ukraine will be a speaker at the Warsaw Security Forum 2015. Involved in national politics since 1995, he became president in January 2004 after President Eduard Shevardnadze resigned during the November 2003 “Rose Revolution” led by Saakashvili and his political allies. Following the Rose Revolution, as the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili focused on tackling the core obstacles to economic growth. The main targeted areas were corruption in civil services, dealing with corrupt and overly influential oligarchs, and simplifying the tax code. Following his term as President, he actively became involved in supporting Ukraine’s Euromaidan movement and the 2014 Ukrainian revolution and was appointed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko as head of the International Advisory Council on Reforms in 2015.
