Ann K. Ganzer is currently the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation at the Department of State.
As PDAS, Ms. Ganzer works closely with the Assistant Secretary to lead U.S. efforts to prevent, impede and, where possible roll back the spread of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, their delivery systems, destabilising advanced conventional weapons, as well as related materials and technologies. A career member of the Senior Executive Service and skilled diplomat, Ms. Ganzer leads ISN’s team of nearly 300 professionals spread across 14 offices.
Ms. Ganzer joined the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer, serving tours in Mexico and Washington. An assignment in Political-Military Affairs caused her to change her focus to international security and nonproliferation. She has negotiated numerous treaties and agreements and participated in international meetings ranging from the IAEA and Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms, to the United Nations 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing. Ms. Ganzer has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Norbert College of De Pere, Wisconsin. She is married and has three grown children.
