Małgorzata Bonikowska

President, Centre for International Relations Foundation (CSM), Poland

President of the Centre for International Relations and the THINKTANK centre. For over two decades, she has headed CSM, one of Poland’s oldest think tanks focused on international relations and security. She is also a university lecturer at the University of Warsaw and Vistula University.

She holds a PhD in the humanities and specializes in international relations (with a particular focus on the European Union) and communication in public institutions. She graduated from the University of Warsaw (Italian Studies), the Sorbonne in Paris (History and Political Science), and the State Theatre Academy (Cultural History). She completed two doctoral programmes – in Poland (Polish Academy of Sciences) and abroad. She also pursued advanced studies at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia University in New York, as a Fulbright scholar.

Between 1995 and 1998, she worked as an editor at Polish Television (TVP), and from 1998 she headed the European Information Centre at the Office of the Committee for European Integration. She designed and implemented the government’s Public Information Programme on Poland’s accession to the EU and created a network of Regional European Information Centres. From 2001 to 2008, she served as an expert for the European Commission and Head of the EC’s Information and Communication Programme in Poland, and later in Bulgaria.

Since 1997, she has been engaged in academic and research activities, working as a university lecturer and government adviser. She is the author of over 80 publications and several books, and has supervised more than 100 bachelor’s, master’s, and diploma theses.
