Philip H. Gordon is the Sydney Stein, Jr Scholar at the Brookings Institution.
He has previously served as Assistant to the President and National Security Adviser to the Vice President; White House Coordinator for the Middle East; Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs; and Director for Europe at the National Security Council.
He writes regularly for publications such as the New York Times, Financial Times, and Foreign Affairs, and is the author of numerous books including "Losing the Long Game: The False Promise of Regime Change in the Middle East", which was named a "book of the year" by the Financial Times and CNN and "book of the century" by Foreign Affairs.
