Tytti Tuppurainen

Member of Parliament, Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Finland

Tytti Tuppurainen is the Leader of the Social Democratic Parliamentary Group in the Finnish Parliament and member of Parliament´s Foreign Affairs Committee. She was first elected to the Parliament in 2011, and prior to her election as Group Leader she was the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee. She is currently the foreign affairs spokesperson of the Social Democratic Party of Finland.

In 2019-2023 Tytti Tuppurainen was a cabinet minister in PM Sanna Marin’s government. Her ministerial portfolio included European Affairs and Ownership Steering, the latter involving responsibility for state owned companies with market capitalisation of more than 50 billion Euros. During her first and second term in the Parliament (2011-2019) she has been the vice-chair and a member in the Grand Committee (EU-Affairs).

Tytti Tuppurainen’s many political roles include membership in the municipal council in her native City of Oulu since 2000, being Leader of the Social Democratic Women in Finland in 2014-2024 and being member of the PES (Party of European Social Democrats) Presidency since 2012 and European Council of Foreign Relations’ ECFR Wartime Economy Task Force since 2024.
