An Australian diplomat and foreign policy strategist who serves as First Assistant Secretary of the Europe Division at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Since joining the foreign service, his executive leadership roles have spanned bilateral and multilateral portfolios, including heading the United States and European Union branches, serving as Minister-Counsellor (Political) at the Australian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and completing a diplomatic posting to Australia's Mission to the United Nations in New York.
Prior to his career at DFAT, he accumulated diverse expertise across intelligence, defense, and public policy through roles at the Department of Climate Change, the Office of National Assessments, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, and the Department of Defence. His professional background also extends to private sector renewable energy initiatives and academia, having lectured on international climate change policy.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne — which included studies at Georgetown University—and a Master of Arts with Honours as a Hedley Bull Scholar from the Australian National University.
