Romanian retired four-star general, statesman, and defense strategist specializing in military governance, joint force command, NATO strategic integration, and international security policy.
His public and military career includes serving as Prime Minister of Romania (2021–2023), President of the Romanian Senate (2023–2024), Minister of National Defense (2019–2021), and Chief of the Romanian General Staff (2015–2019). His extensive operational command roles include serving as Commander of the Romanian Land Forces Staff, Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division, Commander of the 282nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, and Chief of Operations for the 2nd Infantry Brigade. Commissioned as an infantry officer, he led combat operations as Commander of the 26th Infantry Battalion during missions in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom) and Iraq (Operation Antica Babilonia), as well as multinational operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He holds a Ph.D. in Military Sciences and earned a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His advanced military education also includes high-level strategic commands and NATO exercise leadership across Allied frameworks.
