American four-star general, operational commander, and joint force strategist specializing in counter-insurgency, combined arms operations, and Pacific theater defense policy.
His military career spans nearly four decades of command and staff leadership within the U.S. Army and joint forces, culminating in his command of United Nations Command, ROK/US Combined Forces Command, and United States Forces Korea (2021–2024). He previously served as Commanding General of United States Army Pacific (2019–2021), Commanding General of XVIII Airborne Corps, Commander of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) in Iraq and Syria, and Commanding General of the 4th Infantry Division. Commissioned as an infantry officer in 1985, his combat deployments encompass operations in Panama, Grenada, Haiti, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and holds Master’s degrees from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Naval War College.
