Laurènce Fierens is a security professional who has held multiple policy roles within the Dutch government, working across defence, diplomacy, and international security. From September onwards, he works at the Security Department of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Laurènce has served as a policy advisor at the Netherlands Ministry of Defence, coordinating the Ministerial Sub‑Councils and Taskforces. Previously, he worked on Mali and the Sahel region at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on integrated diplomacy, security, and development approaches. Laurènce holds an MSc in Crisis and Security Management and a dual bachelor's degree in international relations and Middle Eastern Studies from Leiden University.
