Linas Linkevičius

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lithuania

Linas Linkevičius currently serves as the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden (since 2024).

From 2012 to 2020, he held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. Prior to that, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Belarus in 2012. From 2005 to 2011, he served as Lithuania’s Permanent Representative to NATO. Between 2004 and 2005, he held the role of Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. Earlier, from 2000 to 2004, and previously from 1993 to 1996, he served two terms as Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence. In the interim, he was appointed Ambassador and Head of Mission of Lithuania to NATO and the Western European Union (WEU). Mr. Linkevičius was elected to the Seimas (Parliament) in 1992 and, in 1993, was appointed Minister of National Defence for the first time.

He is also actively involved in several international policy and security networks. He serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the European Leadership Network (ELN), the CEPA International Leadership Council, the World Security Forum (WSF) International Advisory Council, and the Energy Security Leadership Council – Europe.
