Norwegian three-star general, military aviator, and strategic defense leader specializing in air operations, joint force planning, international military representation, and crisis management.
His military career spans nearly four decades of operational and command roles within the Royal Norwegian Air Force and armed forces leadership. He previously served as Chief of the Royal Norwegian Air Force (2021–2024), Inspector of Air Operations and Commander of Rygge Air Base (2017–2021), Chief of Operations Branch at the Defence Staff (2015–2017), and Chief of the Situation Centre. An experienced aviator with nearly 3,000 flight hours across multiple helicopter platforms, his earlier commands include 137 Air Wing, the Operational Test and Evaluation unit for the NH90, 330 Squadron, and service as Detachment Commander in Afghanistan.
He is a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies in London and holds a Master of Science in Military Science and Leadership from the U.S. Air Command and Staff College. His military education includes the Combined Forces Air Component Commander Course at Maxwell AFB, the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy, and flight training through the Euro-NATO program in the United States.
