Born on 29 March 1976 in Lappeenranta, she lives in Helsinki with her spouse and daughter.
She has professional qualifications as a police officer, paramedic, nurse, and practical nurse.
She was first elected to the Finnish Parliament in 2019. Since then, she has served on the Administration Committee, the Transport and Communications Committee, the Legal Affairs Committee, and the Intelligence Oversight Committee. From 2022 to 2023, she chaired the Administration Committee. She has also been a member of the Helsinki City Council since 2017.
Since June 2023, she has served in the Finnish Government as Minister of the Interior.
