His career at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) spans multiple international leadership appointments, including Director of the Asia and the Pacific Department in Berlin, Director of the Regional Project on Energy Security and Climate Change in Hong Kong, Director of the KAS China Office in Shanghai, and Head of the Department of Economic Education.
He began his career as an economic researcher in Bonn following the completion of his Ph.D. in Economics and Economic History at the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in 1997. His areas of focus include international economic policy, energy and climate policy, international development cooperation, and geopolitical developments across Asia and China.
