Greek politician, academic, and media executive specializing in European parliamentary diplomacy, constitutional affairs, migration policy, and political communication.
His public and parliamentary career includes serving as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) from 2024 to 2026, Vice-President of the European People's Party in the Council of Europe, and Chairman of the PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons. A long-serving Member of the Greek Parliament for New Democracy, he has held senior government posts including Minister of State and Government Spokesperson (2004–2008), with parliamentary committee service spanning national defense, foreign affairs, constitutional revision, and defense procurement. Prior to his political career, he was a pioneering journalist for two decades, serving as a founding executive of Greece's first nationwide private radio and television stations. In academia, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of Communication at the European University Cyprus and has taught as a visiting professor at the University of Athens.
He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Edinburgh, alongside degrees in Journalism, Communication, and Culture. He has authored numerous publications on media freedom, ethnic identities, and political communication.
