William Berkley is the U.S. Deputy National Intelligence Officer for Europe in the Office of the Director for National Intelligence. In this role, he leads, drafts, and coordinates the U.S. Intelligence Community’s strategic analyses for the region in support of the Director of National Intelligence’s role as the principal intelligence adviser to the President. He assumed the position after serving as the Director for Central European and Western Balkan Affairs on the National Security Council staff from 2017-2019 where he advised the President and White House officials on regional issues and corresponding policy options. He holds a master’s degree in international affairs from the University of Pittsburgh.
