William Echikson is a Non-resident Senior Fellow with the Digital Innovation Initiative and editor of the online tech policy journal Bandwidth at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA). Before joining (CEPA), he worked at Google for six and a half years, running corporate communications for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He began his career as a foreign correspondent in Europe for a series of US publications, including the Christian Science Monitor, the New Yorker, Wall Street Journal, Fortune, and BusinessWeek. He is the author of four books, including works on the collapse of communism in Central Europe and the history of the Bordeaux wine region. He also directed and wrote documentaries for BBC and PBS. An American and Belgian citizen, Mr. Echikson graduated from Yale College with a Magna Cum Laude degree in history. He spent a year at the Harvard University Russian Research Center. He is based in Brussels.
