Katerina Jakimovska (1991) was born in Skopje, North Macedonia. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the St. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. Her thesis was focused primarily on the domestic policies for tackling the negative demographic trends, which is one of her main topics of interest. In 2016, she co-authored a study on a social policy aimed to tackle the negative natality rates. She has been working in the civic sector in North Macedonia, mostly focused on local governance research and informal education. She used to be a project coordinator at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung office in Skopje. She is also a part of the Alumni network of the Foundation. In 2017, she completed the International Parliamentary Scholarship Program at the German Bundestag, within the CDU/CSU Fraction, in the office of MdB Dr. Georg Nüsslein. Later that year she joined the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies as as a responsible officer for all events/conferences/seminars within the foundation. Her main areas of interest are demography and population studies, security, populism, elections and policymaking in representative democracies, EU enlargement and neighbourhood policy and she is especially interested in the Western Balkans region. She speaks Macedonian, English, German and Serbian and currently learning French.
