Andrew Michta is a renowned expert in international relations and security issues. Born in Poland to Józef and Adela Michta, he holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, which he earned in 1987.

For nearly three decades, Michta served as the M.W. Buckman Distinguished Professor of International Studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. During his tenure, he received the Clarence Day Dean's Award for Outstanding Research. Additionally, he held various academic positions, including visiting scholar at the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University, research associate at the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies at George Washington University, and senior fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis.

Michta's expertise and contributions extend beyond academia. He has been an active member of esteemed organizations such as the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London and the AAASS Board of Directors.
