Lt. Gen. Tomasz Piotrowski

He is a certified officer of the Land Forces. In 1991, he graduated from the now-defunct Gen. J. Bem Higher School of Missile and Artillery Forces in Toruń. He also studied at the National Defense Academy (now the Academy of Military Arts), where he completed higher command and staff studies of military command organization and management, and postgraduate studies in information security, among other subjects. Gen. Tomasz Piotrowski began his military service as a platoon commander in the 36th Mechanized Regiment. He also served, among others, in the 16th Artillery Regiment as chief of staff and deputy commander, as well as in the 12th Mechanized Division in Szczecin in the positions of chief of missile and artillery troops (2010-2014), deputy chief of staff for operational matters (2015-2016), and finally chief of staff and deputy division commander (2016-2017). In 2012-2013 he participated in the military mission in Afghanistan, where from October 2012 to May 2013 he was deputy commander of the Polish military contingent, consisting mainly of soldiers from Szczecin. In 2017 he became chief of staff of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces, and a year later headed the DORSZ. This is his second three-year term in the post. In both cases, the appointment was signed by President Andrzej Duda at the request of National Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak. Gen. Tomasz Piotrowski received his first general star in 2016, and another two years later. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general in 2020.
