Has been  a Member of the Sejm – lower chamber of the Polish  parliament – since 2007.  In January 2022 Mr Szczerba was  appointed as a Co-Chair of the interparliamentary commission  Ukraine-NATO within the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.  Currently he is holding a position of the Vice-President of the NATO  Parliamentary Assembly.

In 2001 Michał Szczerba graduated a course in Sociology at the  University of Warsaw as well as did postgraduate studies at SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
