PLENARY SESSION: Celebrating 100 Years of Independence in Central Europe – A Look at the Past, Perspectives for the Future
With a number of Central and Eastern European countries celebrating their centennial anniversary of gaining or regaining independence, the plenary session focused on decrypting how can the painful lessons of the past, better prepare us for the future. The session began by opening remarks given by world-renowned historian from Oxford University: Professor Norman Davies. It then lively continued with a debate between two former presidents of Poland – Mr. Aleksander Kwaśniewski (1995-2005) and Mr. Bronisław Komorowski (2010-2015), jointed by Deputy Chair of the European Affairs Committee and former Prime Minister of Lithuania, Mr. Andrius Kubilius and Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Parliament of Georgia Sophie Katsarava.
WSF2024: Summary
The 11th edition of the Warsaw Security Forum (WSF), held on October 1-2, 2024, successfully brought together 2,600 participants from 90 countries, 30 governmental delegations, and over 250 speakers to address critical issues surrounding European and transatlantic security. With 1 million combined online views and over 14,000 live viewers, the WSF reaffirmed its importance as a leading platform for security dialogue in Europe.
