Minister Czaputowicz is a graduate of the Central School of Planning and Statistics in Warsaw, a doctor of political sciences (Institute of Political Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences) and an associate professor of humanities (Faculty of Journalism and Political Science at the University of Warsaw). He was imprisoned during 80s for his democratic opposition activities. Mr. Czaputowicz was a member of the Civic Committee of the President of NSZZ “Solidarność”. In 2006–2008, he held the position of the Director of the Department of Strategy and Foreign Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Soon after, in 2008–2012, nominated to be the Director of the National School of Public Administration. He was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta as well as the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity for his contribution to the fight for independence and sovereignty of Poland and respecting human rights in the Polish People’s Republic. He wrote over 100 research papers and scientific monographs in the field of European integration at the Institute of European Studies at Warsaw University.
