Elmas Hasanovikj works as an advisor for defense policy at the Department for Defense Policy and Planning within the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of North Macedonia. Mr. Hasanovikj holds a B.S in criminology from Faculty of Security – Skopje graduating with highest honors. He pursued his master studies in the United States at North Carolina State University, as a Fulbright scholar, where he specialized in the field of international studies and nuclear nonproliferation science and policy.
His expertise lies in government policy and regulations, international security and arms control; nuclear nonproliferation, Russian influence and proxy activities on the Balkans, and has nuanced understanding of the political and security circumstances on the Balkans. In 2020, the NATO Liaison Office in Skopje awarded him with Gratitude Letter for his contribution for the integration of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO, including Certificate of Appreciation and NATO Plaque for the Info-Center’s contribution.
Mr.Hasanovikj has completed internship at the Duke’s Center for International
Development (DCID) at Duke University, and OINS Nonproliferation workshop at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, United States. He is member of the George C. Marshall alumni network, Fulbright Alumni network and the European Democracy Youth Network (EDYN).
