Major General Johan Pekkari began his career as a cadet in the Swedish Artillery in 1993, where he later on had various positions until the year of 2003. He has operational experience from Kosovo where he held the position of Policy and Plans general coordinator in 2010. From 2014-2016 he was the commanding officer of the Swedish Artillery Regiment. Since then, he`s continued in the position as Deputy head of the Policy and Plans Department at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in 2020. He currently holds the position as Chief of Directorate of Strategic Plans and Policy, also within the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters. He is an alumnus from the Royal Collage of Defence Studies in Great Britain and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences. In his spare time he enjoys running, bicycling and playing golf. He is married to Ylva.
