The first meeting of the WSF International Advisory Council!

The Warsaw Security Forum is honored to announce the formation of the International Advisory Council, a group of distinguished foreign policy leaders who will advise and support the WSF in three key areas:
The strategic direction of the Warsaw Security Forum’s development,
The WSF’s outreach extension and relevance to the Transatlantic security debate,
Developments in Council members’ states and work towards strengthening of relations between these states and Poland.
The IAC consists of seven members:
Catherine Ashton,  Global Fellow Woodrow Wilson Center, EU High Representative, Vice President of the European Commission (2009-2014), The United Kingdom
Jacek Czaputowicz, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland (2018-2020)
LTG (Ret.) Ben Hodges, Pershing Chair, CEPA Partner, Berlin Global Advisors; Commanding general US Army Europe (2014 – 2017), USA
Dr. Hanna Hopko, Head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (2014-2019), Ukraine
Linas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania (2012-2020), Lithuania
General (Ret.) David Petraeus, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (2011-2012) Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (2010-2011), Commander of US Central Command (2008-2010), USA
Dr. Norbert Röttgen, Chair of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee, Germany
The IAC held its first meeting online with WSF leadership on 27th April, 2021. The Council’s support and advice will ensure the success of #WSF2021, as well as future editions of the WSF.

Warsaw Security Forum Advocates for Key Security Priorities During High-Level Delegation Visit to Brussels

Last week, representatives of the Warsaw Security Forum (WSF), including Prof. Katarzyna Pisarska and Tomasz Obremski, visited Brussels to present the WSF 2025 initiatives to the newly appointed EU and NATO leadership. The delegation engaged in over 20 high-level meetings with officials from the European Commission, European Council, European Parliament, and NATO Headquarters, focusing on critical global and regional security priorities.

Energy Security as the Foundation for a Just Transition in Post-Industrial Regions

The transformation of post-industrial regions toward sustainable, low-emission economies hinges on one critical factor: energy security. This theme, explored during a high-level panel discussion at the last edition of the Warsaw Security Forum, highlighted the need to transition from coal and other high-emission energy sources to cleaner alternatives such as renewable and nuclear energy. Achieving this shift will require not only technological innovation but also strategic planning, international cooperation, and robust regulatory frameworks.
